Improvisation

Improvisation is the main tool I use as an artist. The moments I improvise are when I my artistic voice is most present and when I find play and new textures in movement. I define myself as an embodied thinker, and improvisation allows me to tap into that identity most clearly.

As an improviser, I focus on contrasting textures and redirection of energy within the body. I am constantly taking in information and responding to stimuli. The process is cyclical: I take in external ideas, process them in my body, and utilize their creative potential to produce movement within a compositional frame.
